The Memorial Park neighborhood will suffer a loss soon. David "Cooler" Inglis has resigned his position from the Board. He has accepted a job in another city and will not be able to continue his volunteer work for the MPCA. David and Faith have made many lasting and important contributions to Memorial Park and they will be missed terribly.
The MPCA Board has a responsibility to make a serious and thoughtful selection in choosing a replacement for Mr. Inglis. They must select someone with a history of service to the neighborhood, a strong resume and independence of thought.

We will see what happens when the board meets this week. A lawyer on Wesley Drive has been proposed and accepted by six of the seven board members -- an excellent candidate. Now we find out that the association president, presumably at the direction of the former president, has proposed another, more malleable candidate, who will be disposed to vote as directed by the pro-path faction. One board member has already reversed his vote, and we will see if others are willing to be told what to do as well. These are not auspicious times for our neighborhood.
Well, the Quillian/Cartledge duo has done it again, by engineering the appointment of another path acolyte to the board. First, John White, a well qualified lawyer on Wesley Drive was proposed for the board six months ago. John is a park preservationist and helped create MPCA back in 2001. The board rejected him in favor of extending the term of a current member -- an unheard-of maneuver. Then, they rejected Adam Jett the other night when he was proposed to fill Cooler Inglis' unexpired term. Guess what? Adam is another lawyer and park preservationist, and would have been excellent on the board. All the board members, except for Glenn Cartledge, had endorsed Adam for the position, but the Q/C duo decided they needed a board that would rubber stamp their path proposal without any problems, so they picked instead another person in favor of the path. And, wonder of wonders, current board members reversed their positions.
Here's the problem: board positions are supposed to represent different constituencies, as well as different areas within MPCA. We have neither now, and we are letting these people get away with it. Wouldn't it be wonderful if en masse we all resigned from MPCA in protest? Or, there are provisions in the Bylaws for removing a board member from office. Think about it.
